Thane Grewatz

What is your role at FHS? How long have you worked here?
School Counselor, 16 Years.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Great question! The North Pole - I hear there is a gift shop and I enjoy adventures.

  Where did you attend college?
Taylor University Edmonton Alberta ,Canada. The University of Sioux Falls, SD. The University of Wisconsin, Superior WI. And University of Mary, Bismarck ND.

What attracted you to this career?
I am a servant at heart so I find peace and joy in serving others.

How do you like to enjoy your weekends?
I learn (relearn) songs on the guitar and in the evening, I enjoy old classic movies.

What are three fun facts about yourself?
I really like new adventures, exploring what is around the next corner (road trips).
I look for opportunities to brighten someone’s day (anonymously).
I live a little “outside the box” in that I seek to ignite the 5 senses we are all born to enjoy: The drizzle of rain to the face on an evening walk, a brisk fall morning with my hands around a hot cup of coffee/chocolate, the panoramic view of a majestic glacier field dwarfing the mountain it has uncaptured, the aroma of fresh baked... anything, the sound of approaching wind whispering through the canyon pines as I drift off to sleep after a full day of backpacking/camping.

What is your role at FHS? How long have you worked here?
I’ve worked in the Guidance Office for the last 6 years. I have also worked in the Falls Elementary office, as a custodian at FHS, and Community Education. I have been employed by ISD 361 for over 20 years.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
If I could travel anywhere in the world I would love to travel to Vatican City, Austria and Finland. I am Catholic and being able to see the Pope in person is a lifelong dream I have always had. My nationality is Slovakian and Finnish so I would love to visit the countries my grandparents came from. In reality, however, my happy and peaceful place is with my family at
our cabin in Northwest Bay, Canada, or at Mass.

Where did you attend college? What attracted you to this career?
I took classes at Rainy River Community College, and the University of MN-Twin Cities. I initially wanted to be a pharmacist, then a kindergarten teacher. However my career path took me in different directions and I have mostly worked in office settings.

How do you like to enjoy your weekends?
I love to spend my weekends with my family and friends. I have two beautiful and successful children that I am extremely proud of, and two (almost three!!!) grandchildren that I absolutely adore. I love when we are able to all be together! I am an avid reader and I also love reading
books on my Kindle.

What are three fun facts about yourself?
 Fun Facts about me:
- I am 4’11”
- I still have the same best friend I met while we were in kindergarten
- I worked for the Pohlad family (MN Twins owners) for 15 years when I lived in the Twin Cities.
